An array of street artists brought a carnival atmosphere to Croydon Town Centre in September with the return of the
BIG Get-Together.
The three-day street theatre festival saw dozens of acts perform
to crowds of shoppers and followed the success of the previous BIG Get-Together
in June, when more than 100,000 extra visitors came into the Town Centre.
The BIG Get-Together was organised by Croydon Business Improvement
District (BID) which represents, and is funded by, the Town Centre’s businesses. The event was also supported by the Whitgift Centre,
Allders, Centrale Shopping Centre and House of Fraser, who staged their own events over the weekend.
Ian Harvey, Whitgift Centre Marketing Manager, said: "“The
BIG Get-Together brought a real feel-good factor to the town with shoppers commenting on the fantastic entertainment and events
taking place throughout the Town Centre."
Maria Chapman-Beer,
Interim Chief Executive of Croydon BID, said: “We were keen to build on the success of June’s
Big Get-Together to showcase Croydon’s fantastic retail and leisure offering.“We were delighted to have such a variety of acts signed up for the three-day BIG
Get-Together. The street performances brought a carnival atmosphere to the Town Centre and there really was for something
for all the family to enjoy – and all for free.”
